In Stitches

I have been enjoying my time in the countryside immensely. Variations of Pilates daily, combined with a lot of sewing, a bit of shopping, and reading when I can sew no longer! I have come to realise that relaxing, seriously relaxing (if that isn't a contradiction in terms) is underrated, especially in London, and I aim to treat myself to it more often.

Now don't get me wrong, I love our capital city. Sometimes when I am walking through the streets with a thousand other people, or strolling across the Thames at dusk, or sitting in a "field" (patch of grass to the country folk) along with half of London, I get butterflies at the thought of being a part of it. But one thing I have noticed is that there is London relaxation, and then there is the relaxation you get anywhere else. I hate to say it, but I have actually enjoyed not socialising for a few days. I have sat in actual silence, save for the hum (clackety clack) of my sewing machine. I have allowed myself to pursue a hobby without feeling the need to get out of the house and see people. It has been bliss.

So to the sewing. I have created two garments in the last few days, and judging by my Instagram feed, this little beauty is going to take me through to Autumn/Winter. I love the colour, I love the print, and I love the fabric, so I am quite happy really. I could talk about it more, but I am off to put the finishing touches to my new midi skirt (next blog)!
