Daytime luxe

I got told once that my blog was annoying because "when I see something I like, I think, 'oh where can I buy it?',  and then I look, and surprise surprise...it's vintage or your Grandma's". Looking back over my posts, this is alarmingly true. However, I never set out to make a following of copycats (although that would be hilarious). Style can be influenced and encouraged, and if I can inspire people to rethink certain items in their wardrobe, and give them some confidence to try something new, then that would be incredible. That, and I can blabber on without somebody drifting off (in front of me), or staring at me in complete bewilderment, or worse...

The down side to my ramblings unfortunately, is that when an extremely prominent (and, might I add, handsome) fashion journalist asked me to define my blog, after he had read it himself, I couldn't actually come up with the words. I went with "sort of style, but mainly stream of consciousness..". My vocabulary knows no bounds. Anyway, if you lovely readers are continuing to support me, then I am happy as Larry, whoever Larry is, and I will continue!

So onto this glorious MaxMara skirt, yet another diamond in my hoard from Parisian Sweet in Plymouth. It is a very friendly skirt: it hugs me in all the right places, as well as those places less fortunate, namely my marvelous saddle bags. But that is what Spanx were made for, and I intend to buy my very first pair solely for this skirt.

Wearing luxurious evening items with basic cotton separates used to be something that only those that have the courage, and supposed fashion know-how, have attempted. However, with the influx of statement necklaces, worn with t-shirts, over the past year, I believe fledgling fashionistas are finally seeing the light. Wear that "save it for best" frock in the day with a utility jacket, or that silk shirt with jeans, or that embellished jacket over a tee. I mean, really, when do we get the chance otherwise?

Ok, so I won't be waltzing around Sainsbury's in this, but you get the picture.

Seriously, check.it.out.

T-shirt from H&M
I really have to look for good basic tees, and this organic cotton one is perfect.

The clutch was a container for some Estee Lauder make-up.
My Nanny saves me things like this, as she knows I will use them. I am such a hoarder of luxury boxes and bags because they make such chic storage solutions. This "clutch" is such a score!

The blue stone bracelet was my Grandma's. I am absolutely in love with it, and I'm guessing it must be quite old.

The silver bracelet is from Miss Fox

The pearl ring was custom made for me for my 21st Birthday present from Ma and Pa.

The rose garland was made by me. If you are interested in purchasing, be excited, because my little business collaboration will be launching soon!
